摘要
A biologically-plausible modification to the neurons in a Kohonen network is proposed to lend the network an understanding of temporality. It is shown that the modification ought to allow a Kohonen network to map sequences of inputs without having to resort to external time delay mechanisms. Simulation reveals that a 4 X 4 network exposed repeatedly to four possible inputs is able to classify the 16 possible sequences of length 2. Investigation has begun into the use of the Temporal Kohonen Map to solve problems of context distinction in syntactical analysis.
