NEUTRON DIFFRACTION OF COCS3CL5 ANTIFERROMAGNETISM

摘要
The magnetic structure of CoCs3Cl5 such as deduced from the neutron patterns at 0.31 K, is the following: the moment of a Co ion is antiparallel both to that of its four nearest neighbours (in the (a, b) plane of the tetragonal cell) and to that of its two next nearest neighbours (along the c axis). The stability of this structure can be explained, in spite of the large ferromagnetic exchange interaction along the c axis, if one assumes ferromagnetic exchange with the fourth nearest neighbours, the coupling constant being approximately J4/k = 0.0052 K. © 1969.
