摘要
We propose a global interpretation of the interfacial oscillations observed in the thin layer electrodeposition of zinc. Based on the analysis of voltage signals and digitized pictures of the metallic aggregates, our experimental investigation reveals clues to a new mechanism for electrochemical rhythmicity. We discuss mainly the fundamental competition between the strong depletion of zinc ions in the neighbourhood of the working electrode in a confined geometry (quasi-two-dimensional layer of electrolyte) and the competitive reduction of protons as a key mechanism for spatiotemporal collective interfacial dynamics.
