INCLUSIONAL COMPLEXATION BY CYCLODEXTRINS AT THE SURFACE OF SILVER AS EVIDENCED BY SURFACE-ENHANCED RESONANCE RAMAN-SPECTROSCOPY

摘要
Preliminary results were described concerning the characterization of molecular assembly of azo dyes and chemisorbed monolayers of thiol-derivatized cyclodextrins on silver analyzed by surface-enhanced resonance Raman (SERR) spectroscopy. The results proved that methyl orange (MO) was included in the cavity of chemisorbed cyclodextrin (CD) derivatives on Ag. This is the first example to use SERR spectroscopy to detect inclusional complexation at the surface of a metal. Our findings suggest this approach may serve as a novel strategy to prepare an oriented thin layer of electroactive or photosensitive molecules.
