Films of Fe2O3-delta and Ba-containing iron oxide were successfully synthesized from chelated highly-alkaline aqueous solution by ferrite plating on substrates heated by Xe-lamp beams. The solubility limit of Ba in Ba-containing iron oxide films was Ba/Fe=similar to 0.16. The intensity of the X-ray scattering peaks due to the spinel structure decreased as the content of Ba in the films increased, and when Ba/Fe > similar to 0.06, the alms did not exhibit the X-ray scattering peaks of crystalline structure. After annealing the Ba-containing iron oxide films (Ba/Fe = similar to 0.1), the X-ray scattering peaks of the BaFe12O19 crystalline phase appeared.
