ENERGY OF THE TCNQ TRIPLET-STATE IN PHENAZINE-TCNQ AND FLUORENE-TCNQ CRYSTALS

摘要
Using magnetic field effect measurements of the fluorescence of oriented phenazine-TCNQ (Ph/TCNQ) and fluorene-TCNQ (F/TCNQ) crystals as a function of excitation power and temperature, we were able to reveal the single depletion path S--> (T + T) which is thermally activated: for F/TCNQ with DELTA-E = 3226 cm-1, for Ph/TCNQ DELTA-E = 1130 cm-1. Assuming 2E(T) = E(s) + DELTA-E, the triplet energies are 8865 cm-1 for Ph/TCNQ and 9865 cm-1 for F/TCNQ. The difference in the energy can be attributed to different stabilization energies of the ground states of the complexes.
