TEST OF CENTROSYMMETRY OF THE HEXAGONAL PHASE IN K2SEO4

摘要
Second harmonic generation measurement has been performed to see whether or not k2SeO4 crystal is centrosymmetric in its hexagonal phase. All examined SHG signals were weaker than the detectable limit of our experimental setup, implying that SHG coefficient d33 of k2SeO4 is estimated to be smaller than 5.3×10-3·d11 of quartz. The present experiment indicates that the space group of the hexagonal phase of k2SeO4 is nonpolar D46h·P63/mmc rather than polar C6v4·P63mc. © 1979, THE PHYSICAL SOCIETY OF JAPAN.
