HYDROMAGNETIC-WAVES AND SHOCKS IN MAGNETIZED DUSTY PLASMAS

摘要
Hydromagnetic waves and shocks in a magnetized three-component dusty plasma are investigated. Dispersion relations for low-frequency modes such as Alfven waves and magnetosonic waves are obtained. Wave-plateau shocks of magnetosonic waves driven by either the upper-hybrid waves or the O-mode electromagnetic waves are shown to exist in a dusty plasma. The shocks allow a transition in the dust flow velocity from submagnetosonic to supermagnetosonic values. Relevance of this transition to simulation results on the interaction of a streaming plasma with a dust cloud is pointed out.
