摘要
The algebra of finite dimensional vector spaces is used to formulate the theory of finite element analysis. This results in a plea to re-examine the computational aspects of the force method of analysis, in which the equilibrium equations and the continuity relations of the structure are formulated in terms of equivalence sets, that are independent of the physical characteristics of the finite elements. The approach is illustrated by applications to limit design and minimum weight design of frames and to incremental loading analysis in the plastic range. © 1978.
