We have shown that Sm(Fe1-xTix)12, x less-than-or-equal-to 0.01, film samples can be synthesized systematically with differing crystallite textures to vary the crystallite orientations, and the sample coercivities. Texturing can be switched from (002) to (222) for systems with x = 0 and 0.01. Without nitrogenation such films consist of uniaxial grains and exhibit high anisotropy fields with the easy axes of magnetization directed normal to the film plane. For these film samples with x less-than-or-equal-to 0.06 nitrogenation results in an up to 7% volume change, and a conversion to an easy plane system.
