AUTORADIOGRAPHY OF LATENT PSORIATIC SKIN WITH TRITIUM THYMIDINE

Small pieces of clinically normal skin were taken from the upper arms of 11 psoriatic and 9 non-psoriatic persons for a short-time incubation with tritiated thymidine. The latent psoriatic specimens showed more cells in DNA synthetis, but quite less silver grains per labelled nucleus, indicating a reduced average uptake of the DNA precursor by these synthesizing cells. The quotient of silver grain numbers and label indices allows to separate individually psoriatic from non-psoriatic values. This might become useful for the diagnosis of hitherto doubtful or unknown latent psoriasis. © 1969 Springer-Verlag.
