摘要
Turbulent, incompressible duct flow over a backward-facing step with a very small aspect ratio was studied both experimentally and numerically to investigate three-dimensional effects on the flow characteristics. Measured and predicted velocity and turbulence intensity profiles are presented. It was found that the reattachment length of the present problem was considerably shorter than that of two-dimensional backward-facing step flow. The evolution of strong streamwise vortices was identified. A nonlinear κ-ε{lunate} model was adopted to simulate the flow numerically. The results of the simulation clearly confirmed the findings of the experimental efforts. In addition, the development of streamwise vortices, flow pattern around the corner, and spanwise variation of the reattachment line were visualized from the numerical results. © 1990.
