摘要
Colonies of Apis mellifera in a beekeeping project in Papua New Guinea were surveyed in November 1977, to determine the prevalence of Nosema apis and mite infestation. Bees in samples from 47% of 403 colonies of Apis mellifera contained Nosema apis spores, but only 4 colonies showed more than 5 × 106 spores per bee. Approximately 30 000 bees from 424 colonies were screened for mites, and Acarapis externus, A. dorsalis and Neocypholaelaps africana were identified; none have previously been recorded in Papua New Guinea. No mite species believed to be of danger to honeybees was found. © 1979 International Bee Research Association.
