EXTENSION OF THE DONOR-ACCEPTOR CONCEPT

摘要
The donor-acceptor approach - well established in coordination chemistry - is extended for application to any kind of molecular interaction. Well documented results from quantum-chemical analysis are used to provide simple rules for bond length variations due to variation of the molecular environment. The structural changes caused by molecular interactions are not restricted to the immediate surroundings. They extend throughout the phases and indeed cause specific structural arrangements within the areas of phase boundaries, through which highly specific information transfer can take place. Emphasis is given to structural features and to interactions in solutions of solvent mixtures. © 1979, Walter de Gruyter. All rights reserved.
