摘要
Depressive effects of nitric acid on the line intensities of rare earth elements in ICP-AES have been attributed to a decrease in the energy transfer from the plasma to the analyte. Principal component analysis was used to differentiate the behaviour of rare earth elements and to emphasize the influence of the oxide bond strength and the ionization energy on the acid effect. A similar behaviour was obtained by substituting the acid effect for that of a sheathing gas.
