New ternary rare-earth transition-metal antimonides RE(3)MSb(5) (RE=La,Ce,Pr,Nd,Sm; M=Ti,Zr,Hf,Nb)

摘要
Arc-melting mixtures of the elements produced a new series of antimonides RE(3)MSb(5) (RE = La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm; M = Ti, Zr, Hf, Nb). The structure of La3TiSb5 was determined from single-crystal X-ray diffraction data. Nine-coordinate La atoms separate one-dimensional chains of Sb atoms and columns of face-sharing TiSb6 octahedra.
