EFFECTIVE MEDIUM THEORY FOR THE HOPPING CONDUCTIVITY IN HIGH ELECTRICAL FIELDS

摘要
Starting from the rate equation in presence of an electrical field with arbitrary strength the hopping conductivity in a system with nearest neighbour hopping is investigated by using an effective medium approximation. At not too high fields the differential conductivity is shown to decrease with increasing field. This behaviour is qualitatively in agreement with experimental results on doped semiconductors.
