THE USE OF DICHLORODICYANOBENZOQUINONE FOR GENERATING RADICAL CATIONS FOR ESR SPECTROSCOPY

The e.s.r. spectra of some radical cations which cannot be observed in fluid solution by any of the other methods presently available have now been observed by photoinduced electron transfer to dichlorodicyanoquinone under acid conditions. This technique has provided the first e.s.r. spectra of the radical cations of benzocrown ethers.
