THEORETICAL INTERPRETATION OF ISOMERIC CROSS SECTION RATIOS FOR 2 (D 2N) REACTIONS

Isomeric cross section ratios as function of incident energy between 10 and 20 MeV were theoretically calculated for 133mBa, 133Ba and 121mTe, 121Te formed in (d, 2n) reactions. Assuming the compound nucleus reaction mechanism, three different level density models were used in the calculation: the independent-particle Fermi-gas model, the shifted Fermi-gas model and the superconductor model. The best fits to experimental data were obtained from the superconductor model, a rather satisfactory fact considering that in both reactions studied, the intermediate and final nuclei are even- and odd-mass nuclei, respectively. © 1969.
