PROPENSITY RULES FOR RADIATIVE AND NONRADIATIVE DECAY OF DOUBLY-EXCITED STATES

摘要
Propensity rules are suggested relating the probability of autoionising and radiative transitions amongst doubly-excited states to their molecular orbital (MO) quantum numbers. A key element of the analysis is the behaviour of the electronic centre of mass on the saddle of the three-body potential. This is an example of a general analysis of stability on a potential ridge given by Fano (1980).
