NONLINEAR DYNAMIC AND CHAOTIC FEATURES IN STIMULATED SCATTERING PHENOMENA

摘要
Our analysis has established that nonlinear dynamics is generic to and can be a prevalent feature of stimulated scattering phenomena. It is exhibited in both the Stokes and transmitted pump signals with periodic, quasi-periodic and chaotic behaviour over an extensive range of control parameters, including those close to the threshold for stimulated scattering. Interplay between the nonlinear refraction and the gain of these processes is identified as a Key mechanism responsible for this sustained behaviour. Such dynamical features in stimulated Brillouin and Raman scattering may be readily observed in optical fibres under c.w. pump conditions.
