摘要
The migration rate of a grain boundary is calculated as a function of the orientation of the two grains relative to the grain boundary and the thermodynamic constants (driving force, enthalpy of migration etc.). The calculation is based on the model that grain boundary migration occurs by the movement of kinked steps on the surface of the two grains, forming the grain boundary. The results of this calculation are compared with the experimental observations on migrating grain boundaries of different orientations. Some relationships with other metallurgical processes are considered (formation of textures, migration of other interfaces, phase changes). © 1969.
