The starting materials were K//2CO//3, Na//2CO//3, BaCO//3, and Cb//2O//5. Microtwins were absent at 20 C in the tegragonal bronze crystals near (KCbO//3)//1//4 (NaCbO//3)//1//2 (BaCb//2O//6)//7//4. These crystals also had the best optical quality. Other bronze compositions in the two ternary systems had lower tetragonal to orthorhombic transformation temperatures than NaBa//2Cb//5O//1//5. The microtwins in the K and Rb orthorhombic bronze crystals were less difficult to remove than those present in NaBa//2Cb//5O//1//5. Substitution of K or Rb for Na resulted ina lowering of the Curie temperature and a retention of the sharp transition at the Curie temperature. Analysis of the epsilon vs T data for two representative crystals indicated second order transitions at the ferroelectric to paraelectric transition.
