THE ROLE OF ENHANCED ACTIVITY SITES IN HEXANE CRACKING OVER ZSM-5 ZEOLITES

摘要
Hexane cracking over various ZSM-5 zeolites was studied. In agreement with previous reports, it is shown that HZSM-5 with different SiO2/Al2O3 ratio, when prepared in the absence of water vapor, contain acidic centers equal in activity and selectivity. Enhanced activity sites that are generated under certain conditions of steaming or thermal decomposition of NH4-ZSM-5 zeolite (SiO2/Al2O3 = 34) display the remarkably high activity in hydrogen transfer steps of the reaction. During coke formation, these sites are deactivated more rapidly than are normal acidic centers of ZSM-5-bridging OH groups.
