SOME ASPECTS IN PREDICTING THE POINT OF ZERO CHARGE OF A COMPOSITE OXIDE SYSTEM

摘要
Discrepancies exist among several recently published correlations between the point of zero charge (PZC) of a composite oxide system and those of its component oxides. In this paper, theoretical background and physical meaning for the PZC of a composite oxide were given. Plausible explanations were provided to clarify the differences among the publications. A set of experiments was also carried out for comparison, to determine the PZC of a mechanical mixture of alumina and silica oxides. Suggestions regarding prediction of PZC of a composite oxide system were made.
