摘要
Two systems analysis techniques - model order estimation and parameter estimation - are used to test the adequacy of a four-compartment model to describe the phosphorus kinetics in fresh waters. The theory of the two methods is presented in detail. Two model order estimation techniques are used to find the minimal order of model needed to simulate the observed results. One works in the time domain, the other in the frequency domain. The parameter estimation method is used to estimate the model parameter values and then infer the validity of the model. The technique provides a sequential adaptive procedure for locating improved solutions in the parameter space. The results show that a larger model, with compartments describing phosphorus storage and different kinetics, should be more adequate. © 1979.
