Cryohemorrhoidectomy is a practical, painless operation that can be done as an outpatient procedure for both external and internal hemorrhoids. The cosmetic results-as well as relief of symptoms-are equal or superior to those of surgical excision. The patients are grateful for the absence of postoperative discomfort and being able to carry on their occupations and activities. Long-term assessment of the method is essential before it finds its place in modern surgery. © 1969 American Proctologic Society.
