摘要
A chemometric method based on geometric modelling has been developed to classify commercial gum arabic in relation to authenticated Acacia Senegal. A parameter can be-identified (Senegal Distance) which provides the divergence of any gum specimen from the centroid of an authentic Acacia Senegal cluster. Commercial gum arabic samples can in this way be distinguished from arabinogalactan protein gums of Combretum and Albizia classes, which are potential adulterants in terms of existing food regulations.
