摘要
Kinetic theory is applied to reactions of atoms excited translationally by photolysis. Chosen as examples are the hot deuterium atoms produced by photolysis of DI. A kinetic equation is derived for the momentum distribution of these hot atoms. This equation incorporates the moderating effects of nonreactive collisions as well as the perturbations caused by the two extraction reactions D+H2→HD+H and D+DI→D2+I. Relationships are established between the solution of this kinetic equation and the rates of formation of the two product species HD and D2. Finally, several properties of this equation and of its solutions are examined. © 1979 American Institute of Physics.
