SELF-CONSISTENT CALCULATION OF PHYSICAL-PROPERTIES FOR 2D HUBBARD-MODEL AND COMPARISON WITH CUPRATE SUPERCONDUCTORS

We calculate self-consistently the electronic and spin excitation spectra for the 2D Hubbard model with a nearly half-filled band. The magnetic instability is strongly renormalized by self-energy corrections. The density of states exhibits a structure and a pseudogap around the Fermi energy. Some physical quantities are in qualitative agreement with anomalous normal-state quantities of the cuprate superconductors: the resistivity is nearly linear in T, the incommensurate peaks in the spin excitation spectrum decrease on a small energy scale like those observed by neutron scattering in La2-xSrxCuO4, and the NMR relaxation rate for the Cu(2) nuclear spin becomes non-Korringa-like as has been observed in YBa2Cu3O7. However, we do not find spin-fluctuation induced superconductivity at high T(c)'s.
