摘要
Several recursive formulas have been developed in the past for the solution of systems of linear first-order equations. None of them is capable of dealing with ''backward branching'' as encountered in biological compartmental models and in some cases of complex activation in neutron activation analysis. A new recursive formula in combination with a computer algorithm was developed to overcome this problem. Special attention is paid to computational problems caused by limited numerical precision and short time intervals.
