Accurate analytic expressions of the surface charge density/surface potential relationship are obtained for a spherical colloidal particle in a solution of general electrolytes, The mathematical procedure is based on a method developed previously by H. Ohshima, T. W. Healy, and L. R. White (J. Colloid Interface Sci. 90, 17, 1982). (C) 1995 Academic Press, Inc.
