TRANSMISSION SPECTRUM OF A METAL SLAB IN PRESENCE OF A NORMAL MAGNETIC FIELD

摘要
A theory is developed to calculate the electromagnetic transmission spectrum of a metal slab in the presence of a normal static magnetic field. The boundaries are explicitly included in the development. The transmitted signal is shown to be composed of contributions from the zeros of the infinite-medium dispersion relation (that is, helicon modes), and from the branch points of the conductivity which give the Gantmakher-Kaner oscillations. Results of several numerical calculations are given as examples. © 1969 The American Physical Society.
