Top quarks produced in the reaction e+e- --> ttBAR can have polarization components parallel as well as normal to the production plane, arising from gamma-Z interference and final state interactions. We derive analytical expressions for the distribution of the secondary leptons produced in the decays t --> bl+ nu (tBAR --> bl-nuBAR) and show that the angular distribution of single leptons as well as the angular correlation of lepton pairs is sensitive to the polarization state of the ttBAR system. Two types of asymmetry are found that depend directly on the existence of final-state interactions. These are evaluated for the case of single gluon exchange between t and tBAR.
