摘要
1. 1. Adipose tissue from sheep remained metabolically active for at least 3 days when maintained in tissue culture in a chemically defined medium. 2. 2. During tissue culture the rate of fatty acid synthesis from acetate increased initially and then declined whereas there was a general increase in the rate of glucose utilization. 3. 3. Inclusion of insulin in the culture medium resulted in higher rates of fatty acid synthesis and glucose utilization. 4. 4. Changes in the metabolism during tissue culture are discussed in relation to the metabolism of the tissue in vivo. 5. 5. It is concluded that the system is suitable for studying the regulation of ovine adipose tissue metabolism. © 1979.
