摘要
The effects of varying ionizing gamma irradiation doses and dose rates on the radiation hardness of two optical polymers were examined. Polystyrene (PS) showed increased transmission loss with increased doses up to 7 Mrads at a constant dose rate. Poly(isobutyl methacrylate) (PiBMA) showed increasing transmission loss up to 4 Mrads, beyond which dose it showed very little change. For a constant dose of 10 Mrads at different rates, PS experienced increased transmission loss with decreased rates over the range of 43 Mrads/day to 0.9 Mrads/day, while PiBMA showed decreased damage over the range of 0.94 Mrads/day to .06 Mrads/day.
