AN EFFECT OF OHMIC LOSSES IN UPPER ATMOSPHERIC GRAVITY WAVES

The effect of ohmic losses in ionospheric gravity waves is analysed with respect to the selective dissipation of different wave modes. Preferred tilts of phase surfaces are determined, as a function of azimuth of propagation, and these are related to a reported propensity toward a field-alignment of frontal surfaces in travelling ionospheric disturbances. © 1968.
