摘要
Proton spin-lattice relaxation and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) diffusion constant measurements in polyacrylamide gels undergoing the collapse transition are reported. The data provide insights of microscopic character on the properties of the gels and on the collective dynamics accompanying the collapse transition. It is argued how, on approaching the transition, one has the occurrence of microsyneresis clusters of polymer chains, with a distribution of relaxation rates. The relationships of the NMR quantities to the decay rate of the fluctuations and the cooperative diffusion constant obtained by light scattering are discussed.
