INFLUENCE OF WETTABILITY ON THE AGGREGATION OF FINE MINERALS

摘要
The aggregation behaviour of fine magnesite and dolomite has been examined in the presence of sodium oleate. It has been found that DLVO theory alone is not applicable to strongly hydrophilic or hydrophobic fine mineral particles. A simple correlation between the aggregation, wettability and interfacial interactions has been obtained. The interfacial interactions are responsible for hydration-hydrophobic structural forces. The Van Oss' conception of polar acid-base interactions is used for estimation of the structural forces.
