摘要
Doses to the organs of the head associated with the Adamson-Keinbock X-ray epilation treatment for tinea capitis were measured in a tissue equivalent phantom. Doses to the scalp ranged between 450 and 850 rad. Doses to the brain, which were smaller because of shielding by the cranium, ranged between 70 and 175 rad. The eye received 40 to 50 rad and the internal ear received about 70 rad. With the aid of microdosimeters, the dose to cranial marrow was estimated as high as 435 rad. In order to estimate the range of doses received by children of different age groups and head size, a method of calculating scalp and brain doses using a digital computer was developed. © 1968 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
