SPIN DYNAMICS IN THE PHOTO-EXCITED TRIPLET-STATE OF RH3+-TRISBIPYRIDYL PERCHLORATE

摘要
We have studied the spin dynamics of the lowest excited 3-pi-pi* state of the Rh3+-trisbipyridyl cation by means of techniques for the optical detection of adiabatic fast-passage and spin-coherent transients. The kinetic properties of the triplet sublevels are interpreted in terms of spin-orbit coupling with nearby charge-transfer (d1-pi*) states. The spin-coherent experiments show that the homogeneous linewidth is approximately 100 kHz, i.e. three orders of magnitude smaller than the inhomogeneous linewidth.
