摘要：

It is shown that an electric double layer in a plasma sets itself into motion whenever the current continuity through the layer is violated. Mechanisms leading to the violation of the current continuity are suggested. Results from numerical experiments on double layers are used to illustrate the mechanisms. © 1979.
