FORCE-STRAIN RELATION OF EXTRUDED POLYETHYLENE-MELTS

摘要
An equation has been derived describing the experimental curves provided by a tensiometer on extruded melts. The quantity v0/L representing the deformation time of the melt (v0 is the extrusion rate and L is the length of the molten thread) is the physically essential parameter. Besides these factors molecular parameters of the linear viscoelastic fluid and the die swell influence the force as measured by the tensiometer. The parameters characterizing the viscoelastic fluid can be calculated from a plot FMSvs. (v0/L). Here FMS is a quantity which characterizes the behaviour of the experimental curve for high melt stretch ratios. FMS is practically independent from the die swell. © 1979 Dr. Dietrich Steinkopff Verlag.
