The vapor state emission from a saturated amine

摘要
Emission from the saturated amine 1,4-diaza-bicycle [2.2.2] octane excited at 2507 angstrom in the gas phase at 25 degrees C is reported. The emission, which is in the region 2850-3700 angstrom, has a lifetime of 1040 nsec and a quantum yield of ca. 0.9 and is assigned as fluorescence. It is suggested that the emission originates from a weak V <- N state which is partially hidden by a more intense absorption system.
