摘要
Compartmental modeling is an effective method that reduces the order of a dynamic model required to simulate staged separation processes. This paper identifies critical aspects in the compartmental modeling approach and proposes refinements in the method that ensure reasonable accuracy and improved computational efficiency compared to conventional full-order models. The importance of algebraic structure and the results of linerizing the compartmental model are reported for a 30 tray binary distillation column model.
