RELATIVISTIC GYROTRONS AND CYCLOTRON AUTORESONANCE MASERS

摘要
As follows from theory, supported by experiment, if the electron energy grows to approximately 1 Mev the gyrotron preserves its capability to produce single-mode radiation in the millimeter wave range with rather high efficiency. If the electron energy is ultra-relativistic ( greater than equivalent to 1 Mev), preference must be given to the cyclotron auto-resonance maser, which is, in principle, the most effective type of free electron laser ('dopplertron') at millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths.
