摘要
This is the eighth review in an annual series published in JAAS of the applications of atomic spectrometry to the analysis of environmental samples. Although the layout of this Update is similar to that in Volume 7 of JAAS, there have been some noticeable trends over the past year. While particulate analysis has been important in assessing atmospheric quality for many years, there is now increasing interest in characterization of atmospheric particulates with a view to identification of origins. There have been further moves towards ICP-MS becoming a routine technique, especially for water analysis, in many laboratories around the world. However, much is still being published on preconcentration techniques, and the use of small columns under field conditions, to facilitate sample storage and transport, is particularly noteworthy. Microwave-assisted digestions too are becoming increasingly common place. In the geological section, the more than two dozen papers on Au determination represent a dramatic surge in interest, bordering almost on an analytical gold rush!
