摘要
By remote sensing one understands the determination of object characteristics from longer distances. It comprises the measurement of reflectance, fluorescence, and emission of thermally produced electromagnetic radiation in the spectral range between the ultraviolet and the microwaves. The structure and function of plants affect the remotely detected rays. The fundamentals for the interpretation of remote sensing signals from plants are described in detail. By means of remote sensing fast and widespread information is derived about the expansion, state of health, and productivity of vegetation. This information can be utilized in predictions and their consequences which are for our benefit and the benefit of our environment.
