摘要
Calculations of the imaginary part of the optical-model potential using the Thomas-Fermi gas model of the nucleus are discussed. The surface peaking obtained in earlier calculations of the imaginary distribution is shown to be due to an inappropriate assumption regarding the kinetic energy of the incident nucleon inside the nucleus. No surface peaking is obtained if the kinetic energy is calculated in an appropriate way. © 1969.
