MILLIMETER-WAVE SPECTRUM OF ROTATIONALLY EXCITED H2O

摘要
Four high-J rotational lines in the ground state of H2O and one in the nu-2 = 2 state have been measured in the laboratory. One of them, 17(4.13)-16(7.10) in the ground state, is predicted to be an interstellar maser line under certain physical conditions. Following the laboratory measurements, the 17(4.13)-16(7.10) line was indeed detected toward the oxygen-rich supergiant star VYCMa. The measured frequencies obtained here will assist further astronomical searches.
